Bongchu Braised Chicken in District K, 1Utama is a restaurant that sells its one speciality – Jjimdak (찜닭), aka braised chicken.
With a limited menu selection, it makes it easier for my co-worker, Chun and I decided on something, especially after a long day at work. So, we went with the Spicy Braised Chicken and Nurungji (누룽지).
The shop owner, who had opened the restaurant in March, asked us: “Would you be okay? It’s a bit spicy.”
Chun said: Well, I can’t handle the spicy well, but my colleague can handle it.
What kind of food did they serve?
- Bongchu Braised Chicken (soy Sauce) and Spicy Braised Chicken
- Add on and other Korean dishes
- Beverages
Please take note that their chicken is Halal sourced, but they serve alcohol on the premises.

Lili thoughts:
For me, it’s not too spicy, and it’s flavourful and addictive. Then, to dip the scorched rice into the sauce is just magical – the crunchiness and the sauce match together. I would recommend the place for someone who likes to try the speciality and go for the soy sauce if you can’t tolerate spiciness.
