Jinju fish Sausage Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Jinju Fish Sausages | Halal Korean Snacks

I rarely do snacking, but I will repurchase it in the future when I found something that I like. Just like this Jinju fish sausages!

I’m easily influenced by any food that I saw on television, especially on K-Drama! When I saw this sausage, it reminds me of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo (역도요정 김복주), which was way back in 2016.

If you watch the first episode on Netflix here, you already can spot Bok Joo and her friends eating the sausages (ahem, the finger accident). Of course, that one is not Halal. So, when I got a Halal version of goodies from my friends, I was like…

Tell me more about these Halal sausages!

Launched in 1985, Cheonhajangsa is the first snack sausage in Korea that has been in the market for more than 30 years. The packaging makes it unique, and it represents the brand itself.

This one is Halal because they use pollock meat (명태), which is fish-based. Another thing, it’s instant, no need to cook, all you need to do is to grab and eat! There are three flavours available – Tteokbokki, Cheese and Original.

Lili thoughts:

It’s fascinating how technology used in food, and the outcomes always interesting.

As you saw on the IGTV above, I mentioned that it would get the original, and the cheese flavour is similar. Just things get cheesier. But it wasn’t that overwhelmed (aka muak). There aren’t fish smell lingering around, but the fish taste is very prominent.

The best out of the three for me is Tteokbokki. I like spicy food, and I can handle it pretty well, but this one is just nice. If I could pair it with drinks, it would be Chilsung Cider.

Aside from it taste good, I found it’s very convenient and versatile. You can put in Topokki, or even cook as corndog. I haven’t tried it yet, so, for now, I will grab and bite. 😝
