My Honest Review

This is my first bottle of First Care Activating Serum, and I’ve heard people love it and call it as one of the best anti-aging serum in the market.

With the fifth generation, Sulwhasoo stated as it’s more powerful than ever as an essential anti-aging booster that activates the skin’s natural renewal ability to rejuvenate youthful and glowing skin.

When I received the 60mL bottle, the first thing that I’m curious about is the fragrance and texture. The texture is very lightweight, watery and easy to absorb into the skin. Hence, makes it easy to let other products sink in after. Since it’s a Korean herbal medicine-based serum, the smell is relaxing! I tell you, it’s absolutely the best things to do when you inhale the herbal aroma during your morning routines. I can also see that my skin is getting clearer and gift me soft and radiant look. I’m blessed that this serum helps me to achieve my road to healthy skin. Can’t wait to finish the whole bottle! Because gurl, I want to stay youthful with ample hydration like the Sulwhasoo ambassador, Song Hye Kyo 😆

Review: Joi Natural Deodorant

Another #SapotLokal review, this time it’s a deodorant brand named Joi. I found this brand when the ads came out on my Instagram stories, and it’s absolutely a gem! It popped up when I finished my last deodorant when I needed them the most!

So, I ordered the Lavender & Bergamot Natural Deodorant since it’s their bestseller. When everything set and stone, I try it for almost a month.

The lavender one doesn’t suit because my body odour keeps on smelling bad, and there’s a white spot on my cloth. So, I emailed them to ask for a refund since they provide a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Joi Deodorant

Their customer service is A+! The thing is their owner, Charlotte itself that call me and hear my honest feedback with an open heart. I end up not opt for a refund, but instead, I agreed to receive a replacement product, and I choose the Sensitive Skin Natural Deodorant.

A natural roll on deodorant specially formulated for sensitive skin. Enhanced with healthy magnesium, probiotics and chamomile essential oil, this deodorant effectively neutralizes body odour, keeps you fresh and dry, while soothing and calming your skin.

It’s their latest deodorant that is baking soda free and catered to sensitive skin! I didn’t know that I have sensitive skin until I tried this deodorant. Take note that all Joi deodorants are aluminium and paraben-free that are made from natural ingredients. This brand proudly made from Melaka, Malaysia, so shout out to them for creating this liquid roll-in formula that is vegan and cruelty-free!

Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Witch Hazel Extract, Magnesium Hydroxide, Arrowroot Powder, Lactobacillus Ferment, Glycerine, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Sodium Caproyl/Lauroyl Lactylate, Triethyl Citrate, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Citric Acid, p-Anisic Acid, Chamomile Essential Oil.

Joi Deodorant

Joi Deodorant

My honest review

Honestly, when I use the Sensitive Skin Natural Deodorant, it naturalises my body smells, and because of that, I have less body odour.  Since it’s a liquid roll-on formula, a small amount is just enough for the bottle to last up to 3 months. If Charlotte didn’t tell me that, I would finish it in one month. Do take note that it’s liquidy if you put too much, hence it would give you discomfort. So, again, a little bit just enough!

I’ve tried natural cream deodorant before, so it’s more convenient to have this roll-on. Fret not, if you are a zero-waste advocate, you can clean the bottle and DIY your own deodorant, so no waste created!

Take note too, if you are an avid user of synthetic deodorant with fragrance, it takes time for your body to adjust when you use deodorants made from natural ingredients. For me, I would say roughly around 2 weeks to get my body use to wearing them, so at first, my body odour smells bad, my armpits more sweaty, but alas it’s become normal.

I bought Joi deodorant for RM39, excluding postage with my own money. But since I subscribe to their email, I get 20% off my first-time purchase on their website. When I calculate, it’s worth purchasing since it’s free from harmful ingredients that keep my body fresh and dry throughout the day.

Scalp Treatments Review at Wellness Scalp Station

Last year, my scalp condition started to get worse. I’m not sure if it’s because of the products or my way of washing my hair, but I know that it’s getting out of hand! So, I need to find a solution pronto. I found this deal on Fave apps and decided to give it a try on December 28, 2019, because oh why not it’s only RM11.03 for 2-hour treatments. For me, it is a jackpot!

Make sure to read until the end of the post because I got something for you guys!

I went for the first trial and ended up subscribe on my own for 10 + 1 treatment and received free products according to my hair situation. So, let’s begin talking about the procedures. This treatment that I purchase called as 2-hour herbal generating hair and scalp treatment.

Wellness Scalp Station
Spacey place, but right now they only accept 1 person per time slot during the CMCO
Wellness Scalp Station
The hair wash area
1. They do the point massage which is for scalp relaxing.
2. Hair steaming for 20 minutes to help open up the hair follicle and I can feel a little bit of pain since it's been around 3 months that I didn't do any treatments.
3. They put a mask on my scalp, using natural plants such as ginseng and mint. My scalps started to get red and sensitive because I sleep late and I scratch it before because it can get so itchy.
4. While the hair mask is on my scalp, they put the hair steamer for 30 minutes to let the product absorb and softens the dandruff.
5. Then, Yuki rubs my scalp to let all the softens dandruff completely out.
6. Wash my hair with their in house shampoo and use the conditioner as a mask for 15 minutes. Their products used Korea formulation.
7. Blow-dry my hair a bit and put their hair tonic.
8. Since my scalp is still red, she put something to soothe it out.
9. Last but not least, the staff, Yuki put the hair oil and blow-dry.

My Honest Review

My scalp is sensitive, and Yuki told me I had developed an allergic, hence the redness. But after 3 months of not doing the treatments and doing all those steps, my scalp felt super light, and I can see that my scalp is much cleaner than before. The thing is, it’s not just by doing the treatments that are going to help me to get rid of my scalp problems. Yuki advises me to drink more plain water, avoid spicy food and have enough sleep, which I usually won’t do. My sleep schedule is terrible, and it needs a change.

Another good thing about this centre is with the price that I paid they will add more way to treat our scalp if needed without additional charge. So, besides the standard procedure, they used varies of machines too, and I tried the LED light therapy for my hair before.

Regarding the standard operating procedures during the CMCO, she uses face shields, disposable gowns and gloves while treating me.

Overall, I have been to this centre to get my scalp treatment for more than 5 times. Yuki is very friendly, and she gave me tons of advice on how to take care of my hair and scalp. Before I came here, I didn’t wash my hair thoroughly, so she showed me the right way to wash my hair. So, I learn more when I came here, and so far I can see good results – I had less hair fall, itchiness and dandruff after a few treatments.

Review: I Tried 3 Malaysia At-Home Waxing Kits Brands

Hi guys! Since beauty parlour is still closed for now (I hope they are going back to business soon), I want to tell you about these three local waxing brands that I tried these past few years Norah Wax, Wawawax and Sugar Strange.

If I’m not mistaken, I’ve been waxing myself since 2016, and I want to try as much as local brands and #SapotLokal because right now, it’s essential to support local businesses to boost up our economy. But that’s not my only reason. I realised that there are tons of local brands that I still haven’t yet discovered. So, if you have any suggestions, make sure to leave them in the comment down below.

Before I write a long introduction, let’s get down to the business.

Norah Wax

Norah Wax

I consider Norah Wax an OG in the waxing industry because they are Malaysia’s first premium quality organic hair removal wax. It’s the first wax brand that I get my hand onto, and I always bought the hot wax because I can use it all over my body, including bikini wax.

PROS: Every jar comes with washable cotton strips, small and enormous wooden sticks and manual instructions. The price is worth the money because it can last around three uses (if you used it for legs, bikini wax, armpit and moustache at one go). I mean, it’s pretty a lot for me.

It’s environmentally friendly – they use a jar, and it can be wash and reused. The ingredients are 100% organic and chemical-free, so as a whole, it’s environmentally friendly. Another thing is the wax grab all the hair in one go, I can feel the pain a little bit, but it’s bearable.

CONS: You need to reheat the hot wax to make it work. I mean, you can use it while cold, but you will feel the pain, and it doesn’t grip the hairs out by their roots. So, it’s a bit of a hurdle for me, and it’s the only disadvantage I could think about Norah Hot Wax.

Price: RM35 for 380gm | Buy Norah Hot Wax HERE.
Ingredients:100% organic. Made of Natural Honey, Lemon & Tea Tree Oil. Chemical-Free.
For more info visit Norah Wax.

The second wax brand that I tried is Wawawax. This brand only sells cold wax and this type of wax where you can use straight out of the bottle. No need to heat it. Convenient? Yeap, plus you can put this on the cabin bag since it’s 100ml, but make sure to put it inside the plastic to avoid getting messy.

PROS: As I said before, it’s convenient, easy to use because you don’t need to heat it as it grabs all the hair from my armpit. Suppose you want to use it for a bikini wax. Make sure to warm it so it will be less painful. As they provide all the waxing kits, I prefer their wax strips materials.

CONS: The only thing I’m concerned about this brand is that it’s a bit sticky, no doubt since the three main ingredients are honey, lemon, and sugar.

Ingredients: Contains three main ingredients which are honey, lemon & sugar. No chemicals.

Strange Sugar – old formulation

Strange Sugar is my recent wax purchase in March. All the rave on Twitter on how cute the concept is and all the good reviews made me buy pink and purple sugar. Of course, I put high expectation on this brand because the feedbacks are unbelievable! I got the old formulation one, so I’m going to review it based on that. Let me know if I should try the improve version one and maybe come with a video? Let me know!

PROS: It’s my first time seeing a fun concept for self waxing which is excellent, so people get less intimidated by it.  The wax is full of glitters and colourants; it’s different and unique! The tools that they provided is high quality; it matches the colours of the wax – pink and purple. So, top-notch for the ideas.

CONS: Their 1.0 wax formulation is a bit runny (pink and purple), but I heard their improved version are now ultra-firm. So, I regret buying the old version because it doesn’t grip hair as much as the two other wax brands, and it’s sticky, not in the right way. So, I’ve tried it three times so far, and I encounter disappointment after another because, at last, I need to use my tweezer to clean the area up. Not good experiences.

Price: RM69 for the 2.0 pink and purple sugar | Buy Strange Sugar 2.0 HERE.
Ingredients: Sucrose, water, citric acid, colorant and glitters.
For more info visit Strange Sugar.

So, that’s my quick review on Norah Wax, Wawawax and Strange Sugar. I hope that from this post you can clear your doubt about which products you should purchase. Thank you, @darlienaaa, for the suggestion! Btw, should I try Dovell Wax Hair Removal and do another post regarding the Malaysian wax brand? Let me know 😍

G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream | Review With and Without Using Makeup

Festive season doesn’t stop me to write something on this blog! Before I start, I want to wish Happy Eid Mubarak to all of my friends and may you have a wonderful festive month. Without further ado, let’s move on to the review.

I love K-Beauty products, especially skincare as most of them worked on my skin. Today, I’m so excited to review one of the products, G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream.

G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream

Before I start reviewing, let me tell you something quick about G9 Skin.
G9 were named because of the 9 ingredients that formulate with anti-city pollution skincare concept. The ingredients help to purify and protect the tired skin to become a clean and healthy skin.

The 9 ingredients are 'Lotus extract, Ivy extract, Eucalyptus extract, Hibiscus extract, Chlorella extract, Pine Sprout extract, Oregano Leaf extract, Green Tea extract and Chia Seed extract'. Yes! All this goodies are inside each of their wide range of products.

On the first day of Raya, I was all about taking a risk and trying out the G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream efficiently and review it with honesty.

This cream claim to have a soft whipping texture, which I am 100% agree about it and it doesn’t feel sticky. But it was hard to get the product on my finger since its kind of watery and slippery. Since it’s rich with Hyaluronic, maybe that’s the cause of it.

Make sure to put a good amount on your skin. If you put too much, you will end up looking really pale.

G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream

After I did all my skincare routine, I put on the G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream at 9 AM as a makeup base.

On my first day, I tried the cream with makeup, whilw without makeup on the second day.

Lili thoughts on the first day:

Pros: Instant tone-up effect, give a blurring effect as I wear the makeup and  it does what it claims which are whitening, brightening and moisturising.

Cons: The effect doesn’t last long and my skin felt a oily.

As you can see on the both pictures above, my face become oily and I didn’t touch up my face with the cream because I want to see how it react.

G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream

Without wearing any makeup, I’m going to put this cream to the test. So, I start wearing the cream on 3.40 PM until 11:40 PM and I’m not sure whether its the cream, makeup or my skincare, but my skin is drying out a little bit on my right eyebrow and my nose. When I put on the cream on, it shows the residue on the effected area.

I do realised that this cream does cover up my under eye and makes my face looks alive. But, as you can see it was a bit oily, not as much as the first day.

G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream G9 Skin White in Whipping Cream

Kudos to the team because they made a really cute packaging ‘milk box’ that I can play around and get creative when I’m taking pictures. Besides face, the cream can be applied on discoloured are such as knees, elbows and others.
