Santa Grand Hotel East Coast: Best Place to Stay in Katong, Singapore
You might wonder why I stayed in Katong, Singapore. I went there for the Q2HAN meet & greet at Project Açaí, and it’s just a 2-minute walk from Santa Grand Hotel East Coast. It’s a perfect place to stay for me, so keep reading it to learn more.
About Santa Grand Hotel East Coast
Since Katong, Singapore, has been known as Peranakan Paradise, the hotel Santa Grand Hotel East Coast building retains the Chinese Baroque architecture and keeps the rich local Peranakan heritage to the max.
When you step out of the hotel and explore the local area, you will discover the colourful and beautiful traditional shophouses occupied by Peranakan families and tradespeople in the 1920s and 1930s.

Facilities provided by the hotel
My husband and I booked the Superior Twin or Double room. It may look more extensive in the photo, but I think it’s a bit small for the price that we paid, but there are some other features you should know to combat that—the facilities and service.
All rooms are air-conditioned and come with complimentary toiletries, towels, flat-screen TV, a hairdryer and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub or standing shower. In my case, it’s a standing shower (I don’t mind which one), as long as the toilet is squeaky clean.
There is also an iron and an iron board. A water bottle and some coffee and tea sachets were also included in the room.
The service also is excellent, we reached early in the morning, and the aunty was very accommodating, and we could put our bag in the storage. The lobby also has a water refill corner, which is my favourite hotel part because it saves the earth and can save money for water bottles!

Lili thoughts:
Located just 15 minutes from Changi Airport, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is an excellent choice for business and leisure travellers. Personally, the hotel is located in a youthful area. Beautiful Starbucks is nearby, and the famous ice cream shop, Birds of Paradise, is just a 4-minute walk from the hotel.
The area is near shopping malls and eateries such as Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen. The nearest MRT is 23 minute’s walk which is the Eunos MRT station. Not that near but if you’re planning to head to the city centre, you ought to know!
But, if you only want to chill in one area, Katong is the perfect town to explore in Singapore. It was my first time in the area, and I felt it was hip and aligned with my soul.
